Its been cold and raining for over a week, but this day, out of all the day, the day for Day of Action for Immigrants and Refugees Rights, was a beautiful day. The sun was out and so was the community from different parts of the San Jose and Santa Clara County, they came out to be heard and be seen and they came out to fight for the rights of our migrant community.

There were other demonstrations across the nation in a “Day of Action” ahead of Trump’s inauguration on Friday.

The rally started at the San Jose City Hall and then we marched to the Robert F. Peckham Federal Building and then to Cesar Chavez park.

There was a cultural sharing – spoken word artist – Asha Sudra

The Southbay Filipino community were able to put together a Filipino contingent for this rally.

Below are the pictures of our contingent and testimonies from our empowered members.

We started as friends… then we become a family in Pawis. I’m proud to belong in this “fantastic team”, uniting to help every Filipinos. I had a great time working with the Pawis hardworking members and energetic youths from other organizations during the banner making. I’m inspired when I saw true dedication and strong leadership in each member. We need more people like you… we need all Pawis members to be like you. Together we should be always be ready in Actions, not just in thoughts and in words! See you again in our next event! Mabuhay ang Pawis!
